Treb has 16 range (17 w SE), 150 HP and 2M 8P (packed)/ 1M 150P(unpacked) armourġ Arb need 16 shots to take down BBC. About that.īBC has 12 range (13 w SE), 80HP and 2M 5P armour. And treb is more tanky in this comparison. ![]() We are not compare trebuchets to rams, but to BBC. I tested for some trebs and seems like when they are packed -> then they unpack to attack they have better accuracy then them already unpacked and attacking. The few secs matter in the discussion of which is time costly even if it is produced faster. If melee come close the chance of them surviving, if you are pushed back is really slim. Packed, they can tank some damage but it is not like they become rams in tanking (pierce). If pushed back they have those 7 secs that slows them. If for example, i have range units, bbc can also attack those and kill or damage. With my nerf in, then it would be this case but for now, it can relatively attack safely because if i am pushing, your case, it means i have no defense for my trebuchet except my army but that is of no concern because even the enemy would have his army and nothing in my army composition can match BBC range and if i come close to it, it can safely retreat and counterattack with his army. BBC doesn’t need to come dangerously close. I might be trying to push or i might just had to take down a side castle defending resources. It doesn’t really mean anything if i am attacking him with trebs. And when you defend position, you need unpack them only once. They also less slow your army down - when you meet resistance, you will stop anyway, when you dont, this few seconds doesnt matter. They have more HP and better armour, so they can survive fire and even more hits in meele, and they have better range, so enemy cant close distance as fast as to the BBC, and when packed, trebs are the fastest siege unit, so during fight they can better run away from frontline. Or bring vills to repair.Įven when enemy push your forces back, trebs still have more chances to be safed. And trebs will shoot voley after voley, or you as treb player just sacrifice one and pack rest of them, because better lose one than all. Even then, BBC cant kill treb in 7 sec, you need focus 3 of them. So they can be destroyed by trebs or by fighting units, before they can even fire. BBC has closer range, and this mean to snipe trebs they have to be dagerously close to the fronline. To kill them, enemy has to push back your army, or break thru and you will see this, or has to bring his own trebs. Yes, but if you are attacking enemy’s position, this mean you already push him back and your army is advancing, so your trebs can unpack relativly safe - they are on back of your army, because of their range. Trebs can’t be converted at range, so clearly the Treb is better against someone willing to use monks to convert them. Monks cost less than half the gold (and a quarter of the total resources) so send three for every one BBC. Unlike Trebuchets, you can convert BBC at 12 range with block printing. The only civ in the game that can produce BBC at around the same time as Trebs from any generic civ is the Turks, and they aren’t flat winning games off of the back of the god-tier siege unit that counters everything. The fact that this obviously more powerful, faster, less time consuming, and more effective unit isn’t being abused by everyone at the highest level should tell you that you are likely missing something. You have to spend almost two minutes in Imperial researching the tech before production even starts, during which time with even one castle they’ll have three trebuchets before your first bombard cannon is out. You cannot, ever, research Chemistry in Castle age. Time is the main factor of cost for the Bombard cannon, and yes it takes longer than a treb because you can (and will) make a castle in Castle age, meaning treb is available immediately in Imperial. I said they are a strong unit and a better trebuchet (which role is to destroy building and the bomabard does the same) which they shouldn’t be immediately because the trebuchet requires more investment in time and cost than the bombard, even if the bombard costs slightly more.
